HETHERSETT ATHLETIC A v Freethorpe (Memorial playing field Sunday 1st October 10.30am)
Sunday morning saw Hethersett Athletic Mens A Team take on Freethorpe. Hethersett had started off he season well and were sitting second in league 4B. Apart from an unlucky defeat by Dynamo Denmark, Hethersett had won all their previous games. Freethorpe had also started the season well and were 6th in the league before kick off Sunday and had beaten Dynamo Denmark 9-2 the previous week.
Hethersett started the game well (after the game was delayed briefly to remove some dog poo from the pitch) and were soon ahead through a well worked goal by Scott Allen. Before half time Hethersett increased their lead with a goal from Paul "Nookie" Martin. A great goal line clearance from the Freethorpe defence kept the score at 2-0 at half time.
The second half carried on in the same vain as the first half. Matt Bradfield and Mike Douglas were bossing the midfield, with the Allen brothers causing the defence no end of problems. A third goal was soon added when "Nookie" got his head to a corner after good work by Andy Oliver down the right. Freethorpe did score but never really threatened after that. Hethersett created more chances as the half progressed, a good chance by James Field going just wide.
